Review: The Problem with Forever

The Problem with Forever
The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“Forever was something we all took for granted, but the problem with forever was that it really didn’t exist.”

I picked The Problem with Forever with quite an expectations. Jennifer L. Armentrout was one of my fav authors. I’ve read almost every book of her. But yet this book was .. just not for me. If you have read the reviews of this book, you must’ve noticed everyone saying that this book is not our usual fun and quirky JLA read. Well I agree with them, this book really was an exception but not a good one. At least not for me, though I must say JLA you nailed it with this beautiful cover, unlike anyone of your BEST novels but with a average cover, this was really a exception. Well, I really really don’t want to bash this book, though my inner devil is literally glaring at me and saying ” Do it, Poppy Do it!!

I must say I really appreciate the struggle that you had to make it more philosophical read, but oh my, Sorry to say I didn’t even understand half of the time whatever you were trying to say. There were so many things off with this book. Especially the Main Characters Sorry but i wouldn’t have cared if they didn’t get a HEA or a HFN or Rider or Mallory died, seriously I was unable to even like them. For me the side characters were MUCH more favourable than the Main Characters. There was no feels.

“…the way he said Mouse was so different from how Paige hurled the nickname. It was soft and deep and infinite.”

Why I didn’t loved this book??

✏Like I said I love the side Characters, Jayden, Hector, Paide, Katie and Ainsley- Man everyone!! Every single of side character was my fav one, they literally made me read this book till the end. Even i cried for a side character, if you have read this book you would know what i am talking about.

“As class ended, Hector announced, “I’m hungry.”
“ okay,” Rider responded as I said to my notebook into my bag. “ what exactly do you want me to do about it?”
Hector grinned as he glanced over at me and winked. “ I want you to take me out and feed me.” Rider snorted.”

✏ The writing, main I wa shocked to see the writing how much JLA’s writing has been changed in year since i have last read her books. The more the book was going towards its ending the more i thought; Man where the hell is plot???

✏ This book was Simply on Mallory and on her .. ahh … speech .. problems because .. of her.. past ..and trauma.. Well Shit Mallory its just a problem. Its not like i don’t sympathize with her, i do. What she faced in her childhood was bad but this doesn’t describe what you are now.

“You’re beautiful, too. I mean, you’re hot,” I blurted out. “But I always knew you would be.” my eyes widened as I realize what just streamed out of my mouth, and his grin to turn into a smile. “Oh my God, I did not just say… any of that out loud.”
“you did”
“Ugh.”

✏ The relationship between Mallory and Rider was not upto the point. Like in one half they were dealing with the Ghosts of the foster home duh i mean “mr.henry and then They meet in High School after 4 year and Viola They are in freakin LOVE!!. Not it doesn’t end on that, there’s more ..

“Mouse, we can’t be together. We’ve to end this ..”
“what .. are you talking.. about rider?? why shouldn’t we be together.”
“Mouse..”
“Don’t call me Mouse, i am not a Mouse anymore, I’ve changed.”
“Mous.. Mallory I am leaving you, you deserve better than me.”

✏ The Main problem was The Name’s, Rider Stark Oh, you mean Tony Stark’s brother from Civil War as you know their is such a similarity in their names?? and then Mallory “Mouse” Dodge Well yeah babe you really should be dodging not in speech but .. in … life babe!

✏ The metaphor’s ..
“My Blush turned me into the full shade of strawberry.”
“His eyes shine like a eclipse.”
“The dimple turn in to full smile that makes his eyes shine.”

Well, yeah you can understand my feelings..

At the end, you guys MUST be thinking why giving it a 3 stars, well because of the story, Not characters, not the drama, not the snob dailouges, not the fake angst, not E.L james metaphor. Just because of story and the message that “Everyone should find their voice, nothing remains Forever.”

Forever wasn’t being the one who needed protection. Forever wasn’t pain and grief forever wasn’t a problem. Forever was my heartbeat and it was the hope tomorrow held. Forever was the glistening silver lining of the dark cloud, no matter how heavy and thick it was. Forever was knowing it moments of weakness didn’t equate to an eternity of them. Forever was knowing that I was strong.

Review: The Hunter by Kerrigan Byrne.

The Hunter
The Hunter by Kerrigan Byrne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Where’d you find this ray of sunshine, a morgue? Doesn’t have the doughy hands of an idle lord, he works for his fine suits. What do you do, Mr. Argent, are you an undertaker perhaps?” Christopher’s shoulder lifted, though he remained unperturbed. “Close enough.”

This book start with most heart-breaking prologue I’ve ever read. So much pain and cruelty, no one deserves it not even a prisoner.Christopher Argent was the most cold & heartbreaking hero I’ve read so far. He has no feelings for anyone. An trained assassin and a murderer who kills without even a thought. So cold and fearless. We got to know the reason behind the coldness of our hero (well he was more of anti-hero but instead of this you will love Argent no matter what) in the prologue. What happened in prison left him so cold that he was void of any heart warming feelings. Till he meet Millie Le’Cour.

“I have killed so many,” he murmured. “Don’t you know that it’s too late for me? Don’t you realize that if there is anything but oblivion after this life, I am well and truly damned?”

Millie Le’Cour I loved her as a heroine. She was a very strong character and a very loving mother. She was reading to do anything for her son Jakub. With the best days of her carer as an stage performer and England’s sweetheart she doesn’t know that somewhere danger is awaiting for her to kill her and rob her from her son. And the only man who can protect her is the man who was assigned to kill her, but as he set his eyes on her, he was transfixed by her beauty. That make him impossible to kill her and let him make an arrangement which will make Argent need fulfilled and Millie’s need to protect her son. But as the days and danger crossed them, there was more than just a arrangement but something else. SOMETHING STRONGER!

He tensed and made a sound she couldn’t identify. Encouragement or censure, she couldn’t tell until he spoke. “Don’t be kind to me,” he ordered roughly, and tore her nightgown down the front. “I don’t know what to do when you’re kind.”

As the story unfolds, so many truths come unfold and caused their arrangement to turn into something strong and uncontrollable. This book will take you from the romance to thriller in seconds, from each turning page yu’ll find something new which will make you think about the characters and the truth behind their lies. I was so not going to read this book but the review make it impossible for me to ignore. This was my first book of this author but definitely not the last. I love the relationship between Christopher and Millie, it was like a rollercoaster of emotions. You won’t know what will happen next.

He tensed and made a sound she couldn’t identify. Encouragement or censure, she couldn’t tell until he spoke. “Don’t be kind to me,” he ordered roughly, and tore her nightgown down the front. “I don’t know what to do when you’re kind.”

Christopher was the most angsty hero I’ve ever read. He was so heart-broken for the most of the book, I really didn’t thought anyone can make him feel. Reading about his feelings were so raw and emotional. I felt for him and his fights with the emotions he was not understanding. He was new to this lust and this need he was feeling for Millie and the need to protect her was so strong that made the most of book so raw and good that i can’t wait to see what happen in the end. He was so heart-broken that he denied every feeling and every good thing he might get from this world. Denied the fact that he was even a human, just a monster, a assassin, a murderer. Nothing else.

“It is an easy thing to commit a sin and say that ‘the devil made me do it,’ and then cast that sin on him. But this life has taught me that we make ourselves into the monsters that we are. That the blood we spill is on our own hands.”

This was not our usual historical-Romance book that we read. This book full of suspense, thriller, angst and so many raw emotions that you’ll feel in your every bone. The plot was very suspenseful and it was dark and it was everything you need to read in a Historical Romance book. It was so heart-breakingly good to see Christopher suffering from a cold assassin to a lover and a protector and to the loving moments between Jakub and Christopher. Everything was soo good. With so many secrets and burden of past, seeing them both fighting till the end for eachother makes this book more perfect for bookworm’s like us who loves to read Historical Romance.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

“If you’re not on this forsaken planet, it might as well stop spinning until we all fly off into the void. Because that’s all there is without you. Emptiness.”

Review: It Ends with Us By Colleen Hoover.

It Ends with Us
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“SOME BOOK ARE WRITTEN JUST TO READ AND FORGET AND SOME BOOKS ARE WRITTEN TO TEACH US SOMETHING AND BE WITH US LIKE A LESSON, FOR OUR WHOLE LIFE. LIKE WE’VE LEARNED IT FROM OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE”

No matter how much you wanted the characters to fall in perfect cycle but it can’t. Because this not a book to read just for. This is a book to make us realise that sometimes we’ve to break the perfect cycle to make our future cycle perfect.Sometimes we have to make certain decisions which breaks us at the moment but we thank it happened in the future.Like colleen Hoover said, “some risks are never worth taking.”

Believe me I wanted so much from this book and from these characters and I wanted nobody to hurt in the end.I was angry, feeling betrayed, my emotions were everywhere. I don’t understand that why it happened but in the end I totally understood why this book was the way it is. Because it has to.Life is not a wish granting factory. We have to sacrifice one thing for another, even if we love it with every single fibre of our body. I hated the way this book was proceeding but I know somehow that it WAS important, it was important for us to read, to feel, without experiencing it, and without facing this so much difficult phase that somehow our life is not perfect, Nobody’s life i s perfect. We have to make it perfect by leaving something perfect.

This book … this book Teached me alot. This was not just a book for me. This was lesson everyone should get in life without experiencing. I know without a doubt that this book will remain with me forever till I am living and breathing. The characters, the feeling, the pain, the heart-ache, i felt at the same time they were feeling, I understood what they were going through.Every word of this book is Mine. I have never called any book mine, but i can without doubt that..

This Book Is Mine.

No one can take it from me. No one. It hurted me so much, it teached me so much, it angered me so much. It wakes so many feelings inside me I have never though exists. For me I was a cold-hearted girl but NO i am not. This book prove it for me that I am not. I loved every character, I hate them as much as I love them. But I don’t think I have that much in me to ever re-read this book. But I will beg this whole wide world to read this book. JUST READ THIS BOOK.

THIS BOOK DESERVE TO BE READED!!

Thankyou soooooo much Colleen Hoover , thank you so much for writing this and sharing this withus. I know how difficult it is to bleed your heart open with words. I KNOW!

The Crown & the Arrow
The Crown & the Arrow by Renee Ahdieh

Khalid took to studying the rays of sun shifting through the carved screens. The way the light danced and folded itself.
“What’s her name?” he finally asked his uncle.
“Shahrzad al-Khayzuran.”
Khalid committed the name to memory. Another life lost. Another family shattered.
The seventy-second one.

Phew. Oh my this book did NO good with my obsession of Khalid. It even give more fire to it. My Love for Khalid is endless. & this book gave us the insight from Khalid’s POV on the day of wedding. Now I know why Khalid went to meet the new chalipha Shahrzad. because as always “Curiosity kills the cat”

“He was good at that. Good at robbing the world of light, even in its barest measure.”

OH my baby you’re NOT a Monster. You’re just a Pure-broken soul. Everything of Khalid interests me. and OH how much this book made me want a book from Khalid’s POV. But I know that’s just impossible.

“A monster did not deserve to consider the motivations of his prey.”

THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT ENOUGH. NOW I NEED TO READ The Rose & the Dagger ASAP.

“Her hate was a thing of glory. She”

I WANT MOREE.. THIS WAS NOT ENOUGH

Review: Crush by Richard Siken.

Crush
Crush by Richard Siken

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well, HONESTLY speaking I started this book with really high hope’s. Richard Siken is pretty much an spectacular writer, but this book was JUST not for me! The style and writing was awesome, if I was a critic I would’ve rated this book a 5star, but NO I am NOT a critic and I will only give mty precious stars to the book I love!!

“Tell me how all this, and love too, will ruin us.
These, our bodies, possessed by light.
Tell me we’ll never get used to it.”

But some poetry hit home!! Like literally it touched my heart!! The start was so good that I thought WOW IT’S GONNA BE A MASTERPIECE. But I was wrong, I don’t know why was this hype about. This book was all about blood, stitches, roads, dreams. and some of the poems was so confusing, I didn’t even get what exactly the poet was trying to convey. I just couldn’t relate my self with the narrator. It was really annoying how his moods were shifting through every verse. At one point it was hard getting from one page to another. Although, this book was pretty much short.
I liked some of poetry which made me want to finish this book. So, I did and here we are giving this book a 2 Star, JUST because I liked some poetry, and DAMN what a poetry that was! Made me incapable of escaping this book.

“Tell me how all this, and love too, will ruin us.
These, our bodies, possessed by light.
Tell me we’ll never get used to it.”

These Lines really hit home. It was so beautiful that for a second I thought DAMN man, it’s something else!!

“Tell me about the dream where we pull the bodies out of the lake
and dress them in warm clothes again.
How it was late, and no one could sleep, the horses running
until they forget that they are horses.
It’s not like a tree where the roots have to end somewhere,
it’s more like a song on a policeman’s radio,
how we rolled up the carpet so we could dance, and the days
were bright red, and every time we kissed there was another apple
to slice into pieces.
Look at the light through the windowpane. That means it’s noon, that means
we’re inconsolable.
Tell me how all this, and love too, will ruin us.
These, our bodies, possessed by light.
Tell me we’ll never get used to it.”

How can love ruin us?? It can’t Love make us see light and sometimes the fucking stars, it make us see this world in new light and make us think every thought twice. We can literally see before and after love that how much it changed us. and i loved how author point out the real meaning behind it. These were the moment I LOVED this book very much. I hoped that every line would’ve been THIS great for me!! But unfortunately this was NOT for me.

“A man takes his sadness down to the river and throws it in the river
but then he’s still left
with the river. A man takes his sadness and throws it away
but then he’s still left with his hands.”

2 STARS for this beautiful lines!! JUST because of these, nothing more, nothing else.

Review: The Poetry of Pablo Neruda

The Poetry of Pablo Neruda
The Poetry of Pablo Neruda by Pablo Neruda

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I Liked Pablo Neruda’s writing, I believe his raw passion speaks to all of us on a universal level. It’s so human and bare, it is his monument left to us. This is an amazing collection which begins with his early work to his retrospective years, it shows you this amazing evolution of his writing and how powerful it becomes. Some poems really hit home where some of them really confused me. These poems really made this book a quite interesting read for me.

And I in these lines say:
Like this I want you, love,

love, Like this I love you,
as you dress
and how your hair lifts up
and how your mouth smiles,
light as the water
of the spring upon the pure stones,
Like this I love you, beloved…”
-Pablo Neruda

I no longer love her, that’s certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

Another’s. She will be another’s. Like my kisses before.
Her voice. Her bright body. Her infinite eyes.

I no longer love her, that’s certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

“I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells, dark hazels, and                                           rustic baskets of kisses.
I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.”

You discovered
His thoughts,
His words, his love,
His passionate
Intensity
In a tiny book
That’s now
Well-fingered.
Then you added your own
Unique voice, your arms
Your legs, your body
And your love,
So that in turn
You might be loved
And you were
And still, my heart,
Again, you are.

This is definitely my first book of Pablo’s but not the last. I am looking forward to his writing. Highly Recommended to poetry & Classic Lovers.
